A LITTLE ABOUT ME
Hello everyone, I am Jess!
This is the first time I have done something like this. I am here to try and help. I am an NFL and College Football coach’s’ daughter from birth till he retired. That would be for me, about 28 active years. Even after he retired, I am still either attending, watching and or reading about football daily because I love the game.

Living in a football household allowed me to learn from a different vantage point than most. First of all, from mid-July till the end of the season, it is a lot of long hours for the coaches; seven days a week. Eighty percent or more of my Dad’s time was spent at the office, on the field (practice and games) or traveling to and from games and add traveling for recruiting when he was in the college ranks. They get very few holidays off and no sick days unless you are seriously ill. It has to be extreme circumstances to take ANY time off during the season for coach or player. And yes, coaches work off season and players have to work-out off season. A lot of them study their playbook as well.

Until I was about eleven or twelve, I did not always pay attention to anything related to football. It was my Dad’s job and that is all it meant to me. I even fell asleep during a 49er game once. Hey, I was kid and a girl who did not understand the importance of the actual football game. Right before my 12thbirthday, I realized that this was our life; this was important. Football was more than a game to us; it was our livelihood. I started to pay more attention. I made up my mind to understand football. Learning it was pretty easy once I made an effort.

Going to a game can be an amazing experience. So much adrenaline, so much energy; so much excitement. Being prepared for a game and understanding what is happening on the field is key to enjoying yourself. I have been to many football games, have sat in different areas of the stadium, including the very top…the last row, the endzone and even five rows from the field on the 50-yard line. I have endured many types of weather extremes: blistering sun, downpours of rain that lasted the entire game and wind, snow, and ice. Whether good or bad weather, good or bad seats, good or bad game, or good or not-so-nice fan experience; I have stories to tell; funny and not so funny. Anything that happens becomes a memory to treasure; a story to tell; a scrapbook to show off.

The information I included in this web page was given to you from a practical viewpoint. I hope it helps those who want to understand the basics of football and to enjoy the game more. Many Blessings!
